A Bluetooth-Enabled Jacket That Plays Music
This certainly fits into my “What For?” file.
Infineon and a German clothes manufacturer have developed what they claim is an item “for the man who has
everything”—an electronic jacket that plays music and connects to a mobile phone. The mp3blue jacket
comes with Bluetooth technology “sewn in” to the garment along with an MP3 music player controlled by a
textile keyboard on the sleeve.
Can you imagine walking on the street and seeing somebody tapping away on their sleeve? Definitely some strange
looks will be delivered from passersby…
They said the jacket, which a rosner spokeswoman said would retail for around 600 euros ($736), was aimed at
“technologically progressive, fashion-conscious men.” It has a Web site, www.mp3blue.de.
The electronic module, containing a rechargeable battery with a lifespan of eight hours, can be removed to clean
the jacket, the firms said. The music system doubles as a headset to make and receive phone calls.
