Dear friends, dear collaborators,

MOTTO distribution, specialised in culture magazines and books, is happy to invite you to the temporary bookshop to be set up in CORNER COLLEGE at Perla Mode, Zürich. The event stretches out in one week, starting on september 27th until october 4th included.

For the occasion various publishers are invited and presentations are taking place almost everyday, with a new publication highlighted each time.

To acompany the launches, various screenings are also scheduled in the little CORNER CINEMA.

The whole catalogue from Motto is available for sale, with more than 100 titles of all sorts, from self published zines to magazines or books, in the fields of art, design, photography, fashion, or culture at large.

A special deadstock box with discounted items will be also available.

PROGRAMME:

Saturday 27th. Opening: 2pm. 6:30pm: KILIMANJARO issue 8: Visual surrealism and virtual reality. + related video screening.

A vibrant printed space dedicated to visual culture and editorial experimentation, the new Kili will arrive freshly printed in the hands of the publisher Olu Michael Odukoya.

Monday 29th 6:30pm : DOTDOTDOT: Issue 16, several back issues + screening.

“In the context of the presentation of Dot Dot Dot issue 16, the movie “F for Fake” (Orson Welles, 1974) will be screened at Corner Cinema in the evening (20:00pm approx).

Dot Dot Dot is a New York based Art magazine experimenting with art, design, music, language, literature and architecture.

Wednesday1st 6:30pm: MONO KULTUR (DE): Issue 16: Pavel Althamer. In presence of the publisher Kai Von Rabenau. + screening.

Mono.Kultur is an interview magazine based in Berlin presentations full length and in depth conversations.

Friday 3rd 6:30pm: GAGARIN (BE): presentation of issue 17 in presence of the publisher Wilfried Huet.

The international artists’ magazine GAGARIN, THE ARTISTS IN THEIR OWN WORDS, is entirely dedicated to texts by artists who are now working, anywhere in the world. The latest issue contains exclusive contributions by Aleksandra Mir, Peter Friedl, Saâdane Afif, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Lee Bul, Danh Vo, Philip Metten and Adam Chodzko. The launching will be accompanied by a screening of Aleksandra Mir’s “First Woman on the Moon” (1999, 12’, courtesy Galerie Laurent Godin, Paris) and some quotations from Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s “Tropical Malady” (2004, courtesy Kick the Machine Films, Bangkok).

Saturday 4th: UOVO (IT). Uovo Open Office Basel issue 18 presentation + related docs.

Uovo is a quarterly magazine which offers an independent point of view on contemporary art. Uovo/18 is the result of Uovo Open Office Basel, where artists were invited in a space during the art fairs in june 2008 to create site specific works and record interviews. The whole process has been documented and is presented in the magazine.
