I came across PIN-UP last month after hearing about it at the pub. An architectural magazine based in the US, it has labeled itself ‘Magazine for Architectural Entertainment’.
As a flicking experience, there are plenty of great things to see; the thin matt paper stock, the way it switches from four colour printing to black and white within features, type overlapping pictures etc. There is a real sense of spontaneity, it feels like its all casually been put together and the design hasn’t really been thought about (even though it has).
Because of its use of paper and printing you’ll need to get your hands on the actual mag to fully appreciate its character.”
