soft sculptural pillows
Cerealart presents soft sculptural pillows by Yayoi Kusuama. Yayoi Kusama has had a long standing career as one of the most important Japanese artist working today, and her inclusion in the 2004 Whitney Biennial is evidence that her work is as strong these days as it was 40 years ago. Furthermore, The Public Arts Fund has commissioned the artist to produce a site-specific installation for Central Park, which debuted this spring. Kusama came to prominence in the late 50’s with her site specific installations, which today exist in the form of photography, and with her infamous dot and net obsession paintings. Kusama continues to explore the influence of patterns, repetition, and the idea of infinity, of the notion that a two-dimensional work of art, of even an installation had the ability to transcend spatial limitations.
